Western Alamance has won four straight games at home, while Cedar Ridge has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Warriors will host the Fighting Red Wolves at 6:00 p.m. The last three games Western Alamance has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, Western Alamance didn't have quite enough to beat Orange and fell 5-4. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Bayleigh Burris made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off three home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cedar Ridge). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Williams an 18-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Red Wolves, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Mia Best made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Qiaura Rogers was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan Remaly, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Cedar Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.
Cedar Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Western Alamance, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Western Alamance hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .416. However, it's not like Cedar Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Western Alamance couldn't quite get it done against Cedar Ridge in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 3-0. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
