It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Mercyhurst Prep ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They snuck past Howland with a 48-43 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mercyhurst Prep.
Among those leading the charge was Jeremy Ganska, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Mercyhurst Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Craig Buckner, who scored 7 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Harbor Creek beat Seneca 55-51 on Saturday.
Harbor Creek relied on the efforts of Braylen Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds, and JT Delsandro, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Delsandro has scored at least 25% of Harbor Creek's points. Another player making a difference was Tucker Chwatek, who scored 9 points along with 5 rebounds.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 2-0 season records intact.
Mercyhurst Prep couldn't quite finish off Harbor Creek when the teams last played back in December of 2022 and fell 42-39. Can Mercyhurst Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
