Jordan Hosman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayden Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Adam Geiger was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and South Walton had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against Pensacola on Monday as they made off with a 24-1 victory. The Seahawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Charlie Willcox looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Coleman Borthwick was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cameron Tipton-Thomas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
South Walton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pensacola only posted an OBP of .154.
South Walton pushed their record up to 23-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for West Florida, their record now sits at 22-3.
West Florida might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from South Walton when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Jaguars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
