This season hasn't been kind to the Saddleback Roadrunners, who are still winless after their 21st contest. They fell 35-26 to Samueli Academy on Friday. Saddleback was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Samueli Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Samueli Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Genavivie Medrano led the charge by scoring 16 points. Medrano continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Cortez, who scored 11 points.
Saddleback dropped their record down to 0-21 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Samueli Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Saddleback will head out on the road to face off against Santa Ana at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Santa Ana and Saddleback are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Samueli Academy, they will be playing at home against Magnolia Science Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Magnolia Science Academy's defense has only allowed 29.4 points per game this season, so Samueli Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
