Meanwhile, Lyons entered their tilt with Clyde-Savannah on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They never let the Golden Eagles get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Rylee Richardson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Lyons got a big performance out of Gabby Aunkst, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Aunkst a new career-high. Addison VanLare was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Lyons kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in six consecutive games.
Lyons pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for East Rochester, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
East Rochester suffered a grim 19-1 defeat to Lyons in their previous meeting on Thursday. Can the Bombers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
