The Monroe County Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Friday, Monroe County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-48 to the Lakers. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Monroe County has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Red Boiling Springs pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Pickett County 65-59. While losing is never fun, Red Boiling Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Bobcats are ranked 94th).
Monroe County dropped their record down to 12-10 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Red Boiling Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
Monroe County strolled past the Bulldogs in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 79-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monroe County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
