The Cambridge Academy Cougars suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Barnes Academy by a score of 66-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Maddox Lee and Andrew Wiley certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Lee went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and 6 assists, while Wiley dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. Lee continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Cambridge Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Barnes Academy, they pushed their record up to 3-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cambridge Academy on the road again on Friday and play against King Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. King Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Barnes Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Temple Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Temple Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 275 points over their last four matchups.
