After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the girls McDonald's All America Game is scheduled to be played March 29 in Chicago. On Tuesday, the 24-player roster was announced.
All nine seniors on the 15-member MaxPreps Preseason All-America Team made the roster, including first-teamers Janiah Barker, Lauren Betts and Kiki Rice.
More notes of interest:
• All of the McDonald's All Americans have either signed or committed to colleges, and, unlike previous years where a top college program would rake in several of the selections, these future stars are spread out. Oregon State, Stanford, Connecticut, Arizona, South Carolina, Oregon and UCLA each boast two All-Americans, while 10 other programs will get one gem each.
• Almost half of the All Americans (11) are headed to the Pac-12 Conference.
• No state dominated the selections either, with Florida and Ohio claiming three players, while Colorado, California and South Carolina each boasted two. Twelve other states had one All American.
• Unlike previous years, the teams have yet to be designated an East or West designation.
• By position, 11 of the 24 selections were guards with eight forwards and five centers.
The game will be broadcast live at 6:30 p.m. (ET) March 29 on ESPN2, followed by the boys game at 9 a.m. on ESPN.
