It was a good run, but the Galesburg Christian Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They received a tough blow as they fell 50-36 to Quad Cities Christian. Galesburg Christian has not had much luck with Quad Cities Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Galesburg Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Grace Potter, who scored 14 points. Lydia Reed was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
It was another big night for Piper Ochkie, who scored 19 points along with four steals and two blocks for Quad Cities Christian. Ochkie is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Raegan Ochkie, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Galesburg Christian's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5. As for Quad Cities Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Galesburg Christian will face off against Faith Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Quad Cities Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tri-State Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 19th. Tri-State Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
