It was a proper cat-fight when Kerens duked it out with Cayuga on Friday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Rylee Spivey made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Blair Blue was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Sikes, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
The victory was the seventh in a row for Kerens, bringing their record up to 15-8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Cayuga, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-14.
Kerens wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 19-0 victory against Avalon on the 16th. Cayuga does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
