While it was all tied up 7-7 at halftime, The South Mountain Jaguars were not quite the Camelback Spartans''s equal in the second half on Friday. South Mountain took a 27-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Camelback. South Mountain's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it five in a row.
South Mountain's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Daquawn Morton, who threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Baqi Taylor was in the mix too, providing South Mountain with two touchdowns.
Murray Crump was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 194 yards while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocco Mortensen, who threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns.
South Mountain's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.4 points per game. As for Camelback, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
South Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Camelback is also done with their season.
