The Columbus Discoverers will head out on the road to face off against the Elkhorn Antlers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Saturday, Columbus came up short against Standing Bear and fell 6-2.
Columbus got a good showing from Dayton Snyder, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Snyder hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in March.
At the plate, Columbus saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Collin Rausch, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Elkhorn not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 11-0). They put the hurt on Lincoln Northwest with a sharp 9-0 win. The Antlers haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Beau Twohig looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Elkhorn is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-11 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Elliot Beister was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Caiden Severson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Elkhorn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Columbus' loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Elkhorn, their record now sits at 8-11.
Everything went Columbus' way against Elkhorn in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Columbus made off with a 13-5 win. Will the Discoverers repeat their success, or do the Antlers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
