Jefferson Davis Academy hadn't done well against Thomas Heyward Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders walked away with a 47-35 victory over the Thomas Heyward Academy Rebels. The Raiders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Thomas Heyward Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Ella Hunter and Marlie Needham. Hunter went 6 of 12 on her way to 12 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals, while Needham posted 13 points. Those 12 points gave Hunter a new career-high.

Jefferson Davis Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Thomas Heyward Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
