Baseball Recap: Westview Has No Trouble Against University School of Jackson

After only one run in their last matchup, Westview made sure to put some runs up on the board against University School of Jackson on Tuesday. The Chargers blew past the Bruins 13-4. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Graham Simpson and Cooper Spaulding made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Simpson tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Spaulding pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Simpson went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Spaulding scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, CD Damron was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Thomas Myers, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Westview's victory bumped their record up to 16-3. As for University School of Jackson, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-9 record.

Looking ahead, Westview will look to defend their home field on Thursday against McKenzie at 5:30 p.m. The Rebels will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight. As for University School of Jackson, they will venture away from home to take on Union City at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
