The Yulee Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-33 walloping at the hands of Clay. Yulee was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Clay apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Yulee saw an underclassman step up: Rheyna Hilton scored 12 points. Hilton scored a full 36.4% of Yulee's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brooke Reid, who scored eight points.
Yulee bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Clay, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yulee will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Impact Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. After both having extra time off, Clay and Global Outreach Charter Academy will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Global Outreach Charter Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
