Kyle Anderson was selected 30th by San Antonio in 2014 and used sparingly by the organization as a rookie.
But the basketball world may be finally getting the full picture of what made Anderson so special at
St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.) under legendary head coach Bob Hurley.
Anderson was named MVP of the NBA Summer League on Monday after leading the Spurs to the title. The 6-foot-9 point-forward averaged 22.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Seth Curry (New Orleans), Doug McDermott (Chicago), former UCLA teammate Norman Powell (Toronto) and T.J. Warren (Phoenix) joined Anderson on the first team.
Anderson is one of the winningest players in recent high school basketball history. During his two seasons at St. Anthony, the Friars went 65-0 and won back-to-back national titles.
Including his sophomore year at Paterson Catholic (which closed its doors due to financial problems), Anderson went 93-1 in his final three seasons of high school basketball.
