Zach Wilson is now the starting quarterback for the New York Jets after it was confirmed that Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles on Monday night. Wilson completed 14 of 21 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown in a 22-16 overtime win against the Buffalo Bills after replacing Rodgers in the first quarter.
Isaac Wilson, the former BYU star's younger brother, has also been in the spotlight this season.
The four-star quarterback at
Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah) is leading the nation in passing with 1,832 yards through his first five games. Wilson has 18 touchdowns against four interceptions to go with 339 yards rushing and five more scores. The Chargers are currently ranked No. 19 in the
MaxPreps Top 25.

Wilson has led the Utah power to a 4-1 record with the lone loss coming against No. 2
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas). In that 63-42 loss, Wilson accounted for 434 yards of total offense (369 passing, 65 rushing) and six touchdowns. He has thrown for at least 340 yards and three touchdowns in all but one game this season.
His season-high came in a season-opening 55-7 win over Granger (West Valley City) where he completed 17 of 23 passes for 469 yards and four touchdowns. Last week, he completed 24 of 36 passes for 455 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-14 win over Syracuse. He added 66 yards on the ground and another score while handing the Titans their first loss of the season.
The 2024 Utah commit has emerged as one of the early front-runners for MaxPreps National Player of the Year. Wilson is rated as the No. 20 quarterback in the Class of 2024 according to 247Sports and the second-rated player in the state.
Eric Kjar has coached some big-time quarterbacks since becoming the head coach at Corner Canyon before the 2017 season. It started with
Zach Wilson followed by
Cole Hagen,
Jaxson Dart,
Devin Brown and now Isaac Wilson. Kjar has led the Chargers to a 78-7 record and three state titles. With Wilson under center there is a good chance they add another trophy to the mantle in November.
