A couple of Northern California teams made big moves in this week's MaxPreps California boys basketball Top 25 computer rankings.
Sheldon (27-5), the two-time defending Northern California Open Division champion, moved up two spots to No. 2 after winning a Sac-Joaquin Section championship.
Likewise Mitty (23-4), after claiming another Central Coast Section Open Division crown, jumped four spots from No. 7 to No. 3.
All are behind Sierra Canyon (28-4), which claimed its second straight Southern Section Open crown with a victory over No. 5 Mater Dei. The Trailblazers have been at the top of the California rankings all season.
The 40th annual CIF State Championships get underway Tuesday, with most of the top teams, participating in the Open Division. With only five teams in the North and six in the South being qualified in the Open Division, many more Top 25 teams are playing in Division 1 tournaments.
