1. Anderson County (Lawrenceburg, Ky.)2012-13 record: 34-2
Head coach: Tony Kays
Kays and Anderson County lost to a nationally-ranked state championship Marion County team in the semifinals last season, but the Bearcats are the team to beat this season thanks to the return of five seniors, including first team All-State guard
Makenzie Cann (6-0, 15.8 ppg, 5 rpg) and second team All-State forward
Eriel McKee (5-11, 17.9 ppg, 7.6 rpg).
2. Marion County (Lebanon, Ky.)2012-13 record: 29-0
Head coach: Trent Milby
In 2012-13 Trent Milby coached one of the best girls basketball teams in the history of the state. The undefeated state champs wound up No. 5 in the final national Xcellent 25 Rankings, and were led by Gatorade state Player of the Year Makayla Epps and first team All-Stater Kyvin Goodin-Rogers, both now at Kentucky. Despite the heavy losses the Knights will be a strong contender to repeat.
3. Notre Dame Academy (Park Hills, Ky.)2012-13 record: 29-6
Head coach: Nicole Levandusky
Notre Dame Academy was another victim of the Marion County buzzsaw, losing in the state finals, but this year the Pandas should have a much better shot at the title. They lose All-State guard Olivia Voskhul to graduation, but have 10 upperclassmen ready to step up.
4. Larue County (Hodgenville, Ky.)2012-13 record: 26-6
Head coach: Travis Wootton
The Hawks should be a title contender this season with returning first team All-Stater and Western Kentucky commit
Ivy Brown (6-1, W, Sr.) leading the charge. She'll get help from honorable mention All-State guard
Alexis Brewer (Jr.).
5. Perry County Central (Hazard, Ky.)2012-13 record: 19-9
Head coach: Randy Napier
The Commodores should take a huge step forward this season thanks to the return of first team All-State forward
Kayla Rankin, who averaged 24.3 points and 12.4 rebounds as a junior last season.
