A thrilling week of action was filled with upsets, as four new teams enter this week's MaxPreps Top 25 national high school basketball rankings.
Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.) moved up four spots to No. 4 after defeating the defending national champion and previous No. 2 IMG Academy. The short-handed Ascenders were without 5-star
Jalen Johnson and 4-star
Matthew Murrell in the Top 10 showdown.
No. 8 Sunrise Christian Academy (Bel Aire, Kan.) is the biggest riser this week, as the Sunflower State powerhouse notched signature wins over previous No. 6 DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) and No. 16 Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.).
The four new face in this week's rankings include No. 20 Bloom (Chicago
Heights, Ill.), No. 23 Neumann-Goretti (Philadelphia), No. 24 Archbishop
Stepinac (White Plains, N.Y.), and No. 25 Dorman (Roebuck, S.C.).
Previous No. 16 Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) and No. 21 Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix) each lost twice last week, while No. 14 Minnehaha Academy (Minneapolis, Minn.) and No. 20 Morgan Park (Chicago) were victims of early season upsets to fall out of the national rankings.
Top games this week include No. 1 Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) vs. No. 11 DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), No. 10 McEachern (Powder Springs, Ga.) vs. No. 18 Grayson (Snellville, Ga.) and No. 6 Huntington Prep (Huntington, W. Va.) vs. No. 25 Dorman (Roebuck, S.C.), among others.

1. (Last week 1) Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.), 4-0
After outscoring their first four opponents by 52.5 points per contest, the Eagles face their first real test Dec. 12 hosting No. 11 DeMatha on ESPNU.
2. (3) Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.), 7-0This talented group notched another quality win at the Hoophall West, knocking off Arizona state title contender, Millennium (Goodyear, Ariz.) 76-66. The Trailblazers travel to Ohio for a Dec. 14 showdown with St. Vincent-St. Mary (LeBron James' alma mater) at Nationwide Arena.
Picked
up a signature victory over previous No. 21 Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix) 88-71 behind an impressive 33-point performance from
Jalen Green. The Crew travel to the Chick-fil-A Classic on Dec. 20.
Notched an impressive early season victory over defending national champions, IMG Academy, 67-56 at the National High School Hoops Festival. A healthy Panthers unit appears be a force on the national scene this year.
Despite losing 67-56 to No. 4 Paul VI, the defending national champions were missing two integral pieces in Johnson and Murrell. The Ascenders remain in the Top Five, but must respond strong at the City of Palms Classic next week.
Escaped with a 65-63 win over Liberty Heights (Charlotte, N.C.) to remain unbeaten. The Irish face a pair of Palmetto State contenders this weekend at the Bojangles Bash with matchups against Keenan (Columbia, S.C.) and Dorman (Roebuck, S.C.) on Dec. 13 and 14, respectively.
7. (7) Patrick School (Hillside, N.J.), 0-0Begin the year Dec. 14 against Rutgers Prep (Somerset, N.J.).
The Buffaloes make the biggest jump of any team so far this season, climbing 11 spots after big wins over previous No. 6 DeMatha 75-67 and No. 16 Gonzaga 61-55 at the National High School Hoops Festival.
9. (9) La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.), 6-0
Secured a pair of blowout wins over the weekend before they host Bowman Academy (Gary, Ind.) on Dec. 14. The Lakers travel to the Chick-fil-A Classic on Dec. 20, taking on Legacy Early College (Greenville, S.C.) in their first round matchup.
10. (10) McEachern (Powder Springs, Ga.), 6-0Indians face their first ranked opponent of the year, taking on No. 18 Grayson at the Atlanta Hawks Naismith Classic on Dec. 14. The in-state showdown is their final game before the City of Palms Classic.
A tough 75-67 home loss to No. 8 Sunrise Christian Academy drops the Stags just outside of the Top 10 ahead of their Dec. 12 nationally televised showdown with No. 1 Montverde Academy.
12. (11) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 1-0
The eight-time defending state champions opened the season in style, cruising to a 74-45 victory over Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.). The Gaels take on three in-state opponents before beginning play in next week's Tarkanian Classic.
13. (12) Roselle Catholic (Roselle, N.J.), 0-0
Begin season Dec. 13 at East Side (Newark, N.J.).
14. (13) Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.), 1-0
Opened the season with a 74-41 win over St. Dominic (Oyster Bay, N.Y.). The Crusaders have a pair of in-state opponents next week, traveling to Chaminade (Mineola, N.Y.) on Dec. 11 and hosting Jefferson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) on Dec. 14.
Notched first win over a ranked opponent, taking down previous No. 21 Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix) 67-52 in an impressive showing at the Hoophall West.
16. (17) Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), 2-0
Picked up a 77-42 victory over Perry (Gilbert, Ariz.) at the Hoophall West over the weekend. The Monarchs travel to the CDM Beach Bash this week.
17. (15) Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah), 8-0
Escaped with a 96-94 double-overtime win over Rocky Mountain (Meridian, Idaho) in the title game of the Prolook Shootout. The Tigers head to the 'Iolani Classic next week.
This talented group stormed back from a double-digit, fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.) 73-68 over the weekend. The Rams have a big week ahead culminating with a battle for Peach State supremacy against No. 10 McEachern.
19. (24) Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), 13-1
Bolstered their resume with a 77-61 win over Teays Valley Christian (Scott Depot, W. Va.). The Warriors have a challenging week ahead with a Nov. 12 showdown against No. 25 Dorman and Ridge View on Dec. 13.
20. (NR) Bloom (Chicago Heights, Ill.), 7-0
The Blazing Trojans blew out Pace Academy (Atlanta, Ga.) 84-54 at the Chicago Elite Classic over the weekend to enter the rankings after a hot start.
After dismantling Chief Sealth (Seattle) 96-37 in the season opener, the Fighting Irish travel to the City of Palms Classic next week.
22. (25) St. Frances Academy (Baltimore), 8-0
Gutted out a 61-57 victory over Simeon (Chicago) at the Chicago Elite Classic over the weekend. The Panthers open play at the City of Palms Classic against No. 8 Sunrise Christian Academy on Dec. 20.
Philadelphia Catholic League favorites enter the rankings after an impressive season-opening 64-59 win over Westtown (West Chester, Pa.).
24. (NR) Archbishop Stepinac (White Plains, N.Y.), 1-0Kicked off the season with an 81-69 win over Monsignor Scanlan (Bronx, N.Y.). The Crusaders have a pair of in-state showdowns this weekend before the City of Palms Classic next week.
After opening with a pair of blowout wins, the Cavaliers have a daunting week ahead of them with showdowns looming Dec. 12 against No. 19 Oak Hill Academy and No. 6 Huntington Prep on Dec. 13.
