Final North Carolina Top 50 high school football rankings

Class 4AA champ Vance tops closes out the season on top.

The 2019 North Carolina high school football season is in the books and the final MaxPreps Computer Rankings have been produced.

Class 4AA state champion Zebulon B. Vance (13-2) finishes No. 1 following a strong playoff run. The Cougars outscored opponents 131-24 over five postseason contests.

Behind star junior running back Will Shipley, who rushed for over 2,000 yards, Class 3AA champ Weddington (16-0) claimed the No. 2 spot.

Mallard Creek (10-1-1), Richmond (13-1) and Myers Park (12-1) rounded out the top five.

The MaxPreps Computer Rankings take into account quality wins (against other highly ranked opponents) and strength of schedule. Playoff wins are weighted heavier than regular season games.
