From start to finish, the longest high school football season in Texas history did not disappoint. In all, 19 state champions were crowned in the UIL and TAPPS brackets.
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in
high school football. America's source for high school sports continues
the tradition to close out the season by naming its 2020 Texas MaxPreps All-State high school football team. Selections are based on team success and individual
excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.
The season was capped this year by Austin Westlake's run to a 6A Division 1 title as coach Todd Dodge won his sixth state crown with a 52-34 victory over Southlake Carroll, a squad coached by his son, Riley. The Chaparrals' run to the podium included a stunning 24-21 semifinal win over two-time defending 6A-1 champion North Shore.
Along with Westlake, Aledo won its state-record 10th title, while Denton Ryan and Katy also took home their classification's top prize.
All schools are well-represented on the 53-player All-State team that includes 36 seniors, 14 juniors and three sophomores.
