The 2021 high school football season in Utah kicks off next week and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Riding a streak of 40 consecutive wins and three state championships, Corner Canyon owns the No. 1 spot in the preseason rankings.
The Chargers have emerged as a juggernaut in the Beehive State over the past three years, winning three state titles and compiling a 40-0 record over that span. Corner Canyon is 51-1 since head coach Eric Kjar took over in 2017.
Our projections have Skyridge, American Fork and Lone Peak as the teams best positioned to potentially unseat the Chargers in Class 6A.
Orem is another team that enters the season riding a long streak of state championships at four in a row, winning in 2017 and 2018 in Class 4A and 2019 and 2020 in Class 5A. The Tigers are 42-8 during that run of success.
Outside of Corner Canyon and Orem, defending state champions include Sky View in Class 4A, Juab (3A) and Beaver (2A).
