The 54th annual Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., produced a pair of 2012 national-best outdoor track performances.

The
Redondo Union (Redondo Beach, Calif.) girls, in fact, ran the fastest-ever 4x1,600 relay in 20 minutes, 1.38 seconds. The team consisted of Kayla Ferron, Lyndsey Mull, Rachel Bush and Cara Ulizio. Bernie Montoya of
Cibola (Yuma, Ariz.) won the 1,600-meter run in a national-best time of 4:07.72.
Junior Khalfani Muhammad of
Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) also stood out by winning the invitational 100 in 10.55 and the 200 in 21.32.
* Sabrina Moore had a triumphant return to Oregon with a double victory during the Oregon Relays in Eugene, Ore.
After winning the Class 6A 100 as a sophomore, she moved from
Southridge (Beaverton, Ore.) to
North Mecklenburg (Huntersville, N.C.) when her father changed jobs. She asked to run in the Oregon meet and was rewarded by tying her personal-record in the 100 (11.92) and setting a personal record in the 200 (24.41).
Tatum Taylor, a junior from
O'Dea (Seattle), matched Moore on the boys side by capturing the 100 in 10.65 and the 200 in 21.66.
* Several prep standouts competed against college and open competitors during the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University and two of them were victorious.
Ajee' Wilson of
Neptune (N.J.) won the 800 in a national-best time of 2:05.28, while Cayla Hatton of
Phillips Academy (Andover, Mass.) captured the 5,000 in a national-best 16:14.99.

St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) star Najee Glass won the 200 (21.44) and 400 (46.76) during the New York Relays at Randall's Island in New York City. Sidgie Greene of
Jefferson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) ran the 3,000 steeplechase in a national-leading time of 9:36.72.
* University of South Carolina signee Dondre Echols of
Potomac (Oxon Hill, Md.) won three events and was named boys MVP during the Mustangs Invitational at Forrestville, Md. In the featured 100, he nipped good friend and teammate Ronald Darby by one-thousandth of a second with a personal-record time of 10.69. Darby lost most of the indoor season due to a groin injury.
* Gabrielle Williams of
Reed (Sparks, Nev.) took over the national high jump lead when she cleared an even 6 feet at the Del Oro Invitational in Loomis, Calif.
* Kaitlyn Merritt of
Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) set a California state freshman record when she pole vaulted 13 feet during a dual meet at Servite (Anaheim, Calif.).

Christian Brothers Academy (Lincroft, N.J.) set a state record with a time of 16:08 in the 4x1,500 relay during the NJCTC Relays at Overpeck Park, N.J. It was not far from the national record of 16:03.7, which has stood since 1982.
