Video: Top 25 high school basketball rankings
Upsets shuffle teams in Top 10.
Yet another upset-filled week of high school basketball action saw two teams drop out of the Top 5 and three new teams enter the MaxPreps Top 25 national high school basketball rankings.
Top-ranked Montverde Academy capped off an unblemished regular season with a dominant showing at the St. James Invitational. The Eagles won three games in Maryland by an average of 50 points per outing over the weekend. They'll be prohibitive favorites to capture their fifth GEICO Nationals title in April.
No. 4 DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) and No. 5 Dorman (Roebuck, S.C.) continue their rise as both programs climb inside the Top 5 after previous No. 2 Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah) and No. 3 Sunrise Christian Academy (Bel Aire, Kan.) each lost over the weekend.
Three new faces enter this week's rankings for the first time as No. 23 West Oaks Academy (Orlando, Fla.), No. 24 Westlake (Austin, Texas) and No. 25 Curie (Chicago) join the Top 25.
Other major developments included No. 12 La Lumiere (La Porte, Ind.) capturing the Bob Kirk Invitational title and No. 8 Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (Chattanooga, Tenn.) ascending back into the Top 10.
MaxPreps Top 25 national high school basketball rankings
1. (Last week 1) Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.), 25-0
Wrapped up a perfect regular season with a title at the St. James Invitational, defeating No. 14 IMG Academy for the third time this season in a 67-46 blowout. The Eagles will be the top seed in GEICO Nationals after outscoring their opponents by nearly 40 points per contest.
2. (5) Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), 32-2
Jump back into the No. 2 spot after a wild week that saw two Top 5 teams fall. The Warriors possess a strong national resume, including wins over Top 25 opponents No. 5 Dorman, No. 6 Wasatch Academy, No. 13 Paul VI and No. 20 Bishop Gorman. Another challenge looms Saturday against No. 22 St. Frances Academy.
Finished up an impressive regular season with a pair of blowout wins over conference opponents. The Rams open region tournament play Friday in the semifinal round.
Picked up a big-time conference win over No. 13 Paul VI 62-60 to remain unbeaten in the WCAC. The Stags face a pair of tough opponents this week, traveling Tuesday to Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) and hosting Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) Friday.
Four regular season games remain before the Cavaliers begin the quest for
a fourth consecutive state title. Dorman is hopeful to receive permission to play in GEICO Nationals this season, formally requesting eligibility for postseason play to the SCHSL in recent weeks.
6. (2) Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah), 25-2
Suffered their second defeat of the season over the weekend at the Bob Kirk Invitational, losing on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to St. Benedict's Prep 61-58 in an overtime thriller. The Tigers remain in a strong position for a GEICO Nationals berth after dropping just outside the Top 5.
7. (8) Centennial (Corona, Calif.), 25-2Notched a tough in-state win over Salesian College Prep (Richmond) 59-51 over the weekend. The Huskies take on Roosevelt (Eastvale) in Wednesday's regular-season finale.
Defeated two quality opponents over the weekend, taking down previously unbeaten Caledonia 92-73 behind 42 points from
Jalen Suggs. The National Player of the Year candidate also dropped 28 in a 73-64 win over La Crosse Central (La Crosse, Wisc.).

A shocking 58-55 loss to Memphis East (Memphis) at the Dr. Pepper Classic drops the Buffaloes seven spots. This program remains in the Top 10 on the back of signature wins over Top 25 foes No. 4 DeMatha, No. 12 La Lumiere, No. 22 St. Frances Academy and No. 24 Westlake.
Had
the week off after suffering their third loss of the year at the Crush
in the Valley, falling to Dream City Christian (Glendale, Ariz.) 69-65. The Crew look to recover with a pair of games against Trinity International (Las Vegas) on Feb. 7 and AZ Compass Prep (Chandler, Ariz.) on Feb. 8.
Captured the Bob Kirk Invitational title, knocking off St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) 57-48 in overtime in the title game. The Lakers are on the bubble of earning their fifth consecutive GEICO Nationals invite.
Although the Panthers dropped a close 62-50 contest to No. 4 DeMatha last week, they also picked up their second victory over previous No. 21 St. John's (Washington, D.C.) this season. Six conference games remain, culminating with a rematch with DeMatha on Feb. 16.
Fell to top-ranked Montverde Academy for the third time this season in the title game of the St. James Invitational, losing 67-46 without their star Jaden Springer. Despite the loss, the Ascenders showed plenty of grit in their 64-62 semifinal win over Hillcrest Prep paced by 19 points and 16 points from Duke signee
Mark Williams.
Passed the century mark for the first time this season in a 106-41 win over Istrouma (Baton Rouge, La.). The Hornets face a difficult in-state opponent this week, battling Walker (La.) on Feb. 7.
Travel to the Garden State for a pair of showdowns with quality Northeast opponents Gill St. Bernard's (Gladstone, N.J.) on Feb. 7 and No. 18 Long Island Lutheran on Feb. 8 at the Metro Classic to close out the regular season.
17. (18) Duncanville (Texas), 22-2The
defending UIL Class 6A champions have five games remaining before postseason play. The Panthers only losses this season came against No. 1 Montverde Academy and No. 16 Sierra Canyon.
This talented group jumps four spots in the rankings prior to their showdown with No. 16 Sierra Canyon on Saturday night at the Metro Classic.
Huntington Prep (Huntington, W. Va.) on Saturday at the Metro Classic is the biggest test of the season.
Defeated Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.) 74-70 at the Nike Extravaganza. The Gaels wrap up regular season play this week with two conference opponents.
The Panthers can bolster their national resume this weekend with an in-state showdown against Gill. St. Bernard's (Gladstone) at the Metro Classic.
A massive opportunity awaits this group this weekend, as they face off against No. 2 Oak Hill Academy in the East Coast Bump. A win would bolster the Panthers national standing in a major way.
Enters the rankings for the first time after following up their signature victory over No. 2 Oak Hill Academy by avenging an early season loss to The Rock (Gainesville, Fla.) in a 103-91 thriller.
Lone loss came against No. 10 Sunrise Christian Academy n November. The Chaparrals have reeled off 17 consecutive wins with five games remaining in the regular season.
The Condors enter the national rankings after a big-time win over Vashon (St. Louis) 64-58 over the weekend.
